 COLLEGE HEIGHTS UNITED METHODIST CHURCH

Vision: To be a Biblically functioning community of believers, so that Christ's redemptive purposes can be accomplished in the world. Individually and together, we seek to live out the Great Commandments,
and the Great Commission,
through the power of the Holy Spirit.

What are the 'Great Commandments' and the 'Great Commission'?:
Two foundational Life Principles,
given to us by Jesus.

The Great Commandments: Jesus was asked, "Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?" Jesus replied: "'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.' This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.' All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments." - Matthew 22:36-40

The Great Commission: Then Jesus came to them and said, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age." - Matthew 28:18-20

(The tabernacle was the focus of Beth Moore’s first in-depth study. Now, she takes us back with new perspectives in this updated version.)

 Two New Building Projects
to begin in April
Sanctuary Remodeling
and Picnic Pavilion

Sanctuary Remodeling
On January 27th, The Administrative Council unanimously approved the motion from the Trustees to Remodel the Front of our Sanctuary. This work will take place beginning in April and will last 6 weeks. We will continue to worship in the sanctuary during construction. The picture above gives an idea of how the finished work will look. There will be chairs instead of pews. The Praise Team will set up on the left. The Choir will set up on the right. The Piano and Organ will be placed under the hanging cross, center back. The projection screen will stay where it is now. The pulpit will be centered. We will have a new glass pulpit and a new glass altar table. The altar rail will be from the old, origional sanctuary.  It will be refinished, and made portable, so it can be moved. The project is paid for from funds from the building fund. The purpose is to enhance and modernize our sanctuary for our different types of worship services and events.

We are thankful for the free gift of the drawings, plans, and cost estimates. We thank the Trustees and individuals who have worked on this project. We want to Praise God for another accomplishment to improve College Heights United Methodist Church.

Picnic Pavilion
The Trustees also reported that in April construction will begin on an Eagle Scout Project. This will be a 20’ X 30’ Covered Concrete Picnic Pavilion. This pavilion will be located on the far east side of the church property, across the out drive, just south of the parking lot lighting pole. The roof of the pavilion will match the present church roof. We are thankful for our Scouts giving this gift, valued at over $3,000, in appreciation for the use of the church building for the various Scouting Ministries housed here. We especially thank soon to be Eagle Scout Jeremy Emmerling for his project that expresses appreciation and thanks to the church.
